With our brief,
down to earth solution-focussed approach
we can help our clients with a wide range of challenges
such as:
Through developing a clear understanding of how
the cycle of depression gets set up, the relationship
between depression and excessive dreaming and how
the condition is maintained we can begin to help
our
clients make improvements, often from the first
visit and hopefully set them on a path to a better management of their distress and, in some circumstances, to a full recovery.

Our non-voyeuristic approach is of great importance
when dealing with memories of abuse or trauma
of a very explicit nature. We help our clients
reprogram
these memories so they are no longer affected
by them but we do not need to necessarily know the details
of
the trauma or abuse. Sometimes, treatment can be quite brief. At other times longer treatment times may be required.
Using a process called ‘Rewind’ we can
help our clients eliminate phobias, or greatly reduce their impact on their lives, often in just
one visit.

Through development of an understanding of both the triggers for anxiety and of the fight or flight response
coupled with a variety
of relaxation techniques practiced using
guided imagery
we can often
help our clients deal with anxiety and
avoid panic attacks or diminish their impact on their lives in the future.

We try to help our clients cultivate an understanding of
how the addictive process works to trick them and we hope to help them be in a better position to begin the challenge
of overcoming their addictions. No therapist in the world can
cure addictions, or indeed, any other emotional challenge. Only the client can do so when
there is a genuine willingness to beat the addiction.
We help to get that motivation established and
employ a variety of skills to steer our clients
steadily in a new direction, all the while accepting
and acknowledging that relapse is part of the process
of beating an addiction. Success is not an all
or nothing business. Any step in the right direction
is success. The important thing is to never give
up. We take a very practical and realistic approach
to treating addictions.

Through cultivating an understanding of the sleep
cycle and interferences with that cycle and through
a variety of therapeutic interventions we guide our
clients to re-establish good sleep patterns again.

By tapping into the individuals innate resources,
often forgotten about, we can help our
clients boost their self-confidence, encouraging them
to move on in whatever direction they so desire, always
bearing in mind the goal of meeting needs in balance.
Relationship difficulties are often self-perpetuating
because our beliefs and reactions to one another
trigger patterns of behavior which stop us solving
them. If both parties of a relationship (this could
be parent-child, family members, work colleagues
or any other type of relationship as well as a
couple relationship) are willing to work together
we can provide the guidance to help recognise the
obstacles standing in the way of a healthy relationship
and begin the process of restoring balance and
harmony, so allowing each party to develop respect
and understanding for the other and encouraging
all concerned to set about meeting their own needs
and also help the other to meet their needs too.
Organic disease must naturally be ruled out and we encourage our clients to consult with their doctor for this purpose, but frequently, with chronic pain, there is an underlying
background depression or anxiety challenge resulting in enormous
production of stress hormones. This has the effect
of keeping the pain gates open. Our bodies
are capable of producing their own pain killing
drugs once we encourage their production. Through
the teaching of deep relaxation techniques and
the use of guided imagery we encourage the body’s
natural production of pain relieving chemicals.
A word too many people are all too familiar with,
we help our clients first to clearly recognise
where stress is coming in their lives. There is
an important distinction between stress and stretching.
We all need to be stretched, to feel we are developing
as human beings, and Nature rewards us by flooding
our bodies with “feel-good” chemicals
so that we feel encouraged to continue. However,
when we become overloaded we suffer in so many
ways. Our mood becomes unstable. Our immune system
becomes suppressed and we are more vulnerable to
a host of illnesses. We become less effective in
our work. Our relationships suffer. Often, we cannot
see the wood for the trees. By helping our clients to
relax deeply and then to constructively use the
imagination to come up with new approaches to reducing
the stressors we can often guide our clients to
reduce their stress-load and make practical plans
to keep their lives in balance.
Really a form of addiction, eating disorders
trick people into thinking they are getting their
needs met. The individual affected is held in trance
by an illusion. Our job is to help break that illusion
and guide the client to reality. Through the use
of guided imagery we can often bypass the resistance
of the conscious mind and instigate change at a
very subtle level so that the client can spontaneously
begin to move away from the “False Gold” of
the disorder and towards the “Real Gold” of
establishing balance and meaning in their lives
through getting their needs met.
A chronic problem in the workplace and the school
playground affecting literally millions of people,
bullying needs to be addressed on many levels.
We offer practical advice in relation to each individual
circumstance. We can help restore our client’s
self-confidence. We so often find that when our
client changes the bully fades away as the bully
needs a certain response to continue. However,
in extreme cases, this is not always the case and
if all other options are explored we will encourage
our clients to seek alternative employment or change
schools if absolutely necessary. Constant criticism
crushes the human spirit. Thankfully, we find that
many people can be helped enormously through a
change in their approach and an improvement in
self-confidence.
Many conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, asthma,
irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pain and migraine,
have an emotional component. Stressful events often
trigger an outbreak because emotions affect health
- and vice versa. Through first developing an understanding
of underlying emotional challenges, followed by
a therapeutic use of guided imagery we can trigger
the natural healing response of the client to overcome
these difficulties.
Excess anger damage health, increase the likelihood
of an early death and cause enormous misery among
relatives, colleagues and innocent bystanders.
We can help our clients gain an understanding of
the process involved in triggering the anger and
set about establishing a plan of prevention.

Our skin originally develops from Ectoderm which
is also responsible for the development of the
rest of our nervous systems. Stimulation of the
skin and the muscles lying underneath provides
access to billions of receptor sites that affect
every part of our body/mind. Where appropriate
and when our clients request it, we can refer to colleagues for a host
of therapeutic touch techniques, including Aromatherapy,
Head neck and shoulder massage, Bowen treatment.
Hopi Ear candle treatment etc. These treatments
work beautifully to enhance the “talking
therapy” work.
While we do not offer a specialist nutrition
service we do offer sound advice where appropriate.
Where specialist help is required we can offer
assistance with onward referral.
